Because he's constantly said the virus was a non-issue. Remember him using Barron's sickness to tell Americans that it was really nothing? Remember him lying to all of us about his own bout with COVID only to find out later that he was in very bad shape when he was in Walter Reed?
I also give him credit for pushing to 'warp speed' the approvals. His claims that he did it himself are lies, but his pressure did help accellorate the process. I said it then, I'll say it now. It could have gone really bad (and still can), but IMO, the risk was worth it. I'll be getting my vaccine as soon as I can. I became eligibe today (NC), and have signed up for notification of next available.
I hope that some of Trump's 46% will listen to what he said, and change their mind to get the vaccine.
I hope it convinces a lot of his supporters to get it. It's at the point now where everyone I know who is eligible has already gotten their vaccine, and we're left with a lot of people who won't, at least not now.
I've helped several people schedule their vaccines but I don't try to convince anyone who doesn't want it. I tell them to talk to their doctors.
Sad part is it took shaming on TV to get Trump to say get the vaccine. The prior week politicians were telling reporters that Trump should tell his supporters it's ok to get the vaccine.
How sad it is to see a man so far gone mentally.
