Hardly. 34 different brands are built in Mexico. It's not just cheaper labor.

Of the approximately 3.7 million vehicles built in Mexico during 2019, the vast majority were exported. Many came to dealerships in the United States. Building a car requires a global web of suppliers and manufacturing plants. Mexico is an essential link in that network. It's more than just lower labor costs that move production to Mexico. It's also the country's free-trade relationships that allow it to conduct business with dozens of other nations efficiently.
These vehicles can be just as freely assembled in the US. There is no real supplier barriers in the US. They do it to lower assembly cost slightly. They should be tariffed when they send them to the US.

So no layoffs are happening, the Avon Lake plant will still produce the F450-F550-F560 HD trucks, and Ford invested $185 million there in the past 3 years. Ford is moving a future product to Mexico so the concern is about potential expansion of the plant and new hires.
I'm interested in what product that will be built in Mexico. I'm guessing some new BEV product.

FWIW many manufacturers produce the same vehicle in multiple plants/countries. It's common place among those who know, to avoid the "M" (country of manufacture on the Vin) for best chances of not having a lemon.
Trump fought for jobs???? Seriously? What legal contract or Republican sponsored legislation did he enact to make sure of those wink, wink, nod, nod agreements with Ford and other manufacturers? Seriously people can promise all sorts of vague things, but without a serious LEGAL contract or legislation implementing the deal, its pure moon beam soup.

There won't be much future for Americans allowing large corporations to suck all the wealth away. Americans should be allowed to make things like cars for their own American market as they did from the automobiles origin.
