This is what happens when you make decisions based on emotions like a teenager instead of using your brain to think about whether or not it's a good idea. Defunding the police just because the news said so?
In the mayoral election, they didn't have many options to vote against the insanity. They could vote for the the super Lefty mayor Ted Wheeler, who is at least willing to pretend to try to fight the Commie psychopaths, or they could have voted for Sarah "I Am Antifa" Iannarone, who would have just turned the city over to the mob's control. Portland re-elected Wheeler.
But I don't think that they voted in anyone willing to truly stand against the terrorists in rampaging through Portland, and that's on the people of Portland. If somebody from Portland knows different, please do share. If the people of Portland want to change things, they have to vote for different things.
The base numbers, according to the video, are as follows. Year to date (the video was posted on March 17th but I don't know if that's the baseline date) murders were 1 in 2020 and 20 in 2021.
LOL. Its not the budget. If you think a LESS then 10% budget cut suddenly upped the murders by a factor of 20 I have a bridge to sell you.
BTW-Wheeler is looking to cut most other budgets by 5% as well.
You're probably right. A much more proximate cause would be that the city "leadership" has made it quite clear that they won't enforce the law against those whom they favor, and this has surely emboldened the criminals to be more active.
