They can make mandates, which you seem to have conveniently just sidestepped because ? it doesn't fit your narrative? I can only guess at what media sources you think are credible, but it's not that difficult to find an explanation of what mandates are and how they work.

again it's unconstitutional for a governor to make laws. these are orders and in my opinion and others in my political sphere we do not have to follow orders only laws made by the legislative branch. this is explained numerous times by a famous judge Judge napolitano.

funny I walk around with no mask every day and yet my state has a mandate that everyone wear one outside all the time. i even say hi to friendly police officers with no mask and they say hi back.
Don't force anyone to wear a mask and this would not happen. he should not of stabbed the manager but at the same time, we can eliminate all this nonsense by businesses not requiring masks and states not requiring masks. this is not the first case of violence over masks. the masks cause a lot of problems. there are shouting matches over the masks. i live in a state where people will say something to you outside if your not wearing a mask. i don't know how many times I verbally abused others because of it. they should of minded their own business.

there is a thing called civil disobedience. state regulations are not enforceable i am proof. I go without a mask and say hi to the police and they do nothing.
it's American to disobey something if it's overreach. that's what it means to live free. I am not committing a crime I am practicing civil disobedience. we can only have a free country if people want to live free.

there are no exceptions for the disabled which is a violation of the American disabilities act. a lawsuit is taking place in Paris Maine because of this.
Incidents like this are just sad. I get the frustration with mask wearing sometimes but cases like this are so totally out of proportion in the reaction that they speak to deeper issues. It's like the American populous is constantly on a powder keg in frustration and tension, ready to strike out in violent rage over ever trivial matters.
No, the whole population isn't... only a few people are this close to being a powder keg. But in a nation with a nationwide insatiable thirst for salacious news, it gets reported like it it happened next door.

I think the best advice is to realize every one of us is carrying our own levels of stress right now, and it's better to NOT push anyone's buttons. Whether it's this guy, or the girl in the elevator... We need to back off and give people space. Masks are not worth all this. If you think you're at risk... that's not going to be made better by causing a scene.

How about people follow the rules and this wouldn't happen. You don't want to wear a mask then don't patronize businesses that require you to wear one. No one sane stabs someone for asking them to follow their rules. And yes, it's their rules. Don't like it then go somewhere else.
