Everything you might have wanted to know about daylight savings time. I learned a few things from this. Although he doesn't completely debunk the farmers idea.

Sorry About Your Sleep
A group of U.S. senators has joined the ranks of those who want to abolish daylight saving time, which has roots in cost-cutting strategies of the late 19th century.

You have this exactly backwards. There has been a bill introduced to eliminate Standard time. We are currently on DDT and if the bill passed, we will not change our clocks again.

That’s what I thought too but this is in the article:

“A group of U.S. senators has joined the ranks of those who want to abolish daylight saving time, which has roots in cost-cutting strategies of the late 19th century.”

Maybe the article is wrong.

So why don't we adjust half an hour and leave it. That wouldn't be enough to really impact and enough to just not have to bother every spring/fall.

Great idea!
Personally I would prefer standard time all year so this is a good compromise.

It is wrong. I posted another thread about this a couple of weeks ago, which included links to the actual legislation, which was introduced by Senator Rubio and several far left Senators who are leading AGW alarmism fanatics. There are supposedly 35 states that have introduced basically the same legislation at the state level.

It sounds like this might actually pass this time.

On the face of it it seems like a good idea but it isn’t really feasible because, while there are a few oddities out there, most of the rest of the world is always on the same minute count. I can imagine the types of issues that would cause for international commerce - it’s bad enough trying to navigate miles/meters and pounds/grams.

Thank God. Every year there are people who literally die from this and it no longer serves any real purpose. Talk about clinging to antiquated ideas simply because it’s what’s traditionally been done. Next agrarian driven constriction that needs to go - the traditional school calendar designed to accommodate farming schedules.
