What's the rate of return panning for gold, and what's the amount you can make per hour? I'd like to quantify it, to compare accurately to investing in the stock market. It sounds like a nifty hobby, but outside that I have doubts it is something to take seriously from an investment perspective.
Trump canceled all US war games which are essential in keeping our military at top performance. What did we get from NK? Nothing other than them unveiling new missiles in the past 12 months; Trump's kowtowing to NK gave them time to manipulate him while they worked on more modern missiles - both short range and intercontinental. From Russia we got cyber attacks and their largest naval exercises since the fall of the USSR right off the coast of Alaska. Under the Biden administration, US naval exercises in the Pacific have resumed in the South China Sea to preserve freedom of movement in international waters, despite the Chinese claiming these waters; naval training in the Gulf with our allies have resumed. The backlog of naval repairs of over 1/2 year is being addressed. This is making America strong again, not riding around in a golf cart with dyed hair and a grin.
The US Navy deteriorated under Trump. Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Robert Burke told lawmakers “And we’re not going to recommend increasing ship numbers if we can’t keep them properly equipped manned and ready to fight.” and maintenance is what the Trump budget cut. That coupled with no coherent plan under Trump's DoD to replace the Arleigh Burke's has left the navy with no clear policy other than to have our young sailors on ships that are in the words of Admiral Burke on the edge of a cliff: "...Service life extensions do add to the size of the fleet, but they kind of just push the cliff to the right...So you’ve got to be cautious you don’t keep extending forever without building because eventually, you’ll run out of the ability to extend.”
Morale in the 7th Fleet is so low that one ship has been described as a mental hospital while the fire on the USS Bonhomme Richard was arson.
