I just don't understand why succesful attorneys would torpedo their own careers for a guy like Trump. Why? Why would you do that to yourself.

The only thing I can think of is Powell having some sort of early onset dementia. And then there is this:

Like so many others. She thought she was smarter than everyone else. I wonder if she ever believed in the whole kraken thing, even in the very beginning.
The second I read her first petition, it was clear how the reality didn’t live up to the hype.
Maybe she was too invested at a certain point and had to see it through.
I’d love to read the book and get the insight on what she thought when.
Er

And the Trumpies were literally hyperventilating at the prospect of this batty old gal unleashing the Kraken. Where are they now? Except for one notable exception they're keeping a low profile.

Because they watched Trump scam a bunch of voters and thought they could also ride the wave.

They thought they would also get their 15 minutes and a bunch of speaking gigs and political favors.

Its beautiful to watch them crash and burn but damn, has to suck to be called unreasonable by the people who you supported.

Powell's deroute began somewhat before. A pity, actually. She's always been drawn to the dark side - defended ENRON execs - but with a rational, intelligent demeanor.

The name slips my memory, but IIRC, Trump attracted exactly one heavy hitter from a respected Washington firm - who promptly lost her partnership, can't have Trump all over the company's good name. The rest is a motley collection of attention-seeking people whose careers were already on the downslope. He does have a type.

Most of the careers were already sinking, is my point.
