Nothing to do with Colorado. Federal law prohibits purchasing/ possession of a firearm to anyone with a medical marijuana permit, regardless of state laws.

Only Congress can change this.

??? Are you the other man's property

??? Did you make a contract agreeing to submit to any other man

No one can speak for you but you !!! Only you have standing and personal knowledge, not Mitch !!!

7 states do not recognize medical marijuana exemptions, Alabama, Idaho, Nebraska,North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wyoming.

A majority of states have not legalized recreational marijuana.

Until a tipping point is reached it’s likely marijuana will remain a schedule1 illegal substance at the federal level.

That is not accurate, I have a friend that is prescribed Suboxone and he has a carry/conceal license.

How would the license issuing group know the person was taking 'controlled substances' to begin with? Its a violation of HIPPA laws for them to know your personal medical information, (without your consent).

Phonycons love this invasive Bigbrother-type stuff.

I saw it in the cards, you sign-up for any sort of sanctioned marijuana-use, you are asking for trouble.

I missed part of this when I first replied. The question on the 4473 explicitly says "...unlawful user or addicted to..." so as another poster points out, simply using a controlled substance when prescribed doesn't rule out buying firearms from a Federally licensed dealer.

being 'addicted' to a controlled substance is subjective...I have been taking Suboxone for over 7 yrs now...its prescribed thru a doctor...but I can honestly say, I AM ADDICTED to it! (If I was to stop taking it tomorrow, I would suffer the with drawls)...that basically means, I am addicted...right?

Besides that, HIPPA laws are in place to protect patient privacy...essentially, ONLY those I want to know my personal medical information, are permitted to know it. I certainly DO NOT want the govt or some law enforcement agency knowing my private medical information, and/or what medicines I am taking!

I could play this game. Are you a marijuana user or addict? No, I was, but I quit 10 minutes ago. Off to the gun shop and King Soopers where I can now defend myself and others from people like Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa.

Mitch, Ted, Marco. What about my Second Amendment right? We are being killed in the organic kale section. Damn pot heads deserve it. No self-defense for you.

If you were caught with a firearm while under the influence of or in possession of marijuana or a controlled substance you could be charged with the illegal possession of a weapon. It doesn't matter how, when or where a firearm was purchased.
