He is nearly five years old, and despite being nonverbal, and diagnosed with "severe" Autism, has a flown multiple times with no problem. Mother affirms that he is familiar with flying, and was disappointed when he was not able to take this Spirit flight.
He and his father were flying back from Las Vegas.
With a Dr.'s note.
Because the ADA says you don't have to follow company policies/federal regulations if you have a Dr.'s note?
Really?
Actually, the ADA calls for reasonable accommodations.
What reasonable accommodations might work? Perhaps a Buzz Lightyear face shield?
But this would need to be sorted out ahead of time with the airlines, not just sprung on a flight attendant to resolve who is hardly empowered to resolve issues of reasonable accommodations with company policies and federal regulations.

No one is forcing you to live here but there may be other countries that are more whining friendly. Oh, one more thing, the airline won`t be sued for protecting their passengers and employees.

ya if accommodations were made id be ok with that. give him a face shield.
Flying is a privilege. You have no right to fly. Their planes, their rules. Quit whining.
if you don't commit a crime you have a right to fly because in terms of natural law there is a right to movement. it could be a grey area but some might argue both ways.
if you commit a crime then you lose your ability to fly.
Like i said, sucks for the kid and the family but honestly it's for the greater good and so I'm fine with it. Can't comply? Not the right time to be traveling.
ya I hate those words for the greater good. where this might seem like no big deal to you "the greater good" can be used as evil and to give an exuse.
Follow along: "prohibits discrimination and guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to take part in their communities[/b]
Well then, if you want to be a part of the community. Wear the mask.
Parents ended up getting a refund. Cause they want to be like every one else and throw a tantrum when they are asked to follow an airlines guidelines/regulations.
your over simplifying this not everyone can medically or psychologically wear a mask. if everyone could you might have a case.
