H.R. 1 is an 800-page monstrosity that would usurp the role of the states

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/hr1-...-von-spakovsky

Quote:
H.R. 1, the deceptively entitled "For the People Act," has arrived in the U.S. Senate after a party-line vote in the House of Representatives. It is without doubt the most dangerous and irresponsible election bill I have ever seen.

If it becomes law, it will interfere with the ability of states and their citizens to determine the qualifications and eligibility of voters, to ensure the accuracy and validity of voter registration rolls, to secure the integrity of elections, and to participate and speak freely in the political arena.

H.R. 1 is an 800-page monstrosity that would usurp the role of the states. It would not only eliminate basic safety protocols, but mandate new, reckless rules and procedures. Here are the eight worst provisions of this ill-considered bill:

I hope that the Republicans can find enough support to squash this crap

If passed I hope that SCOTUS does their job

They should have called it “for the democrat party act” all the democrats care about is changing the rules and stacking the deck in their own favor. Common sense should be enough reason to support safeguarding our elections by limiting voting to living US citizens and requiring an ID.

^ why people rightfully thought that the election was stolen

800 pages to do what? Spell out how to steal an election? Whatever happened to one person one vote? That is all gone. Do we even have to wonder which party is going to benefit from this bill? It is the same party that pushed so hard and manipulated the mass mail in voting debacle of 2020. If for one second they thought that mass mail in voting was going to benefit Trump they would have been harping on something else. What is the "else" ? Well we shouldn't be surprised in the future if we are voting using our phones. It works for American Idol so why not the Presidential race as well. What could possibly go wrong?

What is really crazy is that the Dems will soon be pushing for their national data base of gun owners and whoa to those that do not follow their rules because you will be punished.

They will make this list and force people to conform while at the same time do nothing to count the millions of illegal aliens now living in the nation. Is it 11 million or is it 22 million and counting? Who knows?
Do you know what else is not in this 800 page bill? Anything about a voter ID... The Dems don't want that because it will cost them votes.

its common knowledge the conservatives have always wished voting restricted to "their kind" and democrats want ALL voters...some gerrymandered districts look like a two year old with a crayon drew them up

I just happen to have some free clues to give out to the election oppressors.

Hint:HR1, is to encourage voter participation and meet demographics that have been previously deterred..

I do hope vote rights and voter authenticity remain a right openly supported by the USA . I dearly hope this act passes. Tired of the roadblocks ...

Bull crap! Every person should be allowed to vote ON ELECTION DAY and absentee if there is a real issue that they can't go to polls (health, travel and age) BY REQUESTED AND VERIFIED ABSENTEE BALLOT

Not blanket mailing of ballots, no proof of who is voting, harvesting, 10 days later etc

If anything, it's the demoncraps who want "their own kind" to vote!

Don't spew that demoncrap propaganda to me!

It looks like a good bill. We should be allowed to vote and voting by mail is the way to go.

I just voted by mail for the first time in 2020. It was easy, I was able to calmly fill out the form. brought it to the election office before election day. Unlike those GOP controlled states. It was counted before election day. Not a problem. Just to make sure I was able to verify the receipt of my ballot on-line.

Voting by mail works just fine. Banning it is usually a tell of voter suppression by the controlling party.
