I haven't seen many discarded masks in my area though.
Don’t forget goggles. Remember Saint Fauci told us to wear those too. I wonder if the people who want to wear masks indefinitely are wearing their goggles. If not they are selfishly killing others.

I only had a mask on when on a plane. Other than that, I kept mine off and have a medical card I can show to store and restaurant managers who dare try and tell me to put one on.

They may not make you put one on, but they may not allow you to patronize them. I know a lady who owns a shop, and nobody gets in unless they wear a mask. No exceptions. Yes, she's lost a little business, but not enough that it causes her to endanger other people.

Yup. I don't even think about wearing one anymore. I forget I have it on most of the time. Amazing that a piece of paper over your face can cause such consternation in some people.

We don’t do that with things like brushing teeth (you could still lose teeth or have other dental problems), window screens (keeps bugs out, but not allergens), blankets (doesn’t keep all the heat in), televisions (hi-def doesn’t make anything feel real), modern cars (reliable but never perfectly so)...but we don’t scrap the whole idea. That’s not a reasonable premise from which to start. Condoms, btw, are not 100% effective either.
Point is we don't use government FORCE to use any of the items you mentioned...and THAT is the difference.

I only wear them when going into stores or other businesses. I'll tolerate it until I find places that don't require it.

Yes.

A bit off the topic, however, I would hope that people would still understand the need to be more sanitary. There are those who don't care about washing hands, sanitizing, being aware of what others touch and not bringing those germs with them. There will exist colds and flu at the least and it's apparent how some are not conscious about this. I like that stores supply wipes for carts and would be nice if they continue doing so or will bring my own. (I always have had sanitizer in my purse and the car, pre-Covid).

What masks?

Every store I was in today had no "Wear a Mask" signs.
Major Box stores.

Well, I've got a Renaissance Faire where they are calling for masks. I am not a member of cast but I do enjoy having them as a Patron, so there is another reason to follow their request (if I was not so oriented in that direction to begin with). Plus, there is another issue.

Last year, they were closed down by the County when this thing hit. I certainly don't want to be a part of, if only a small part of, if the tables should turn and it happened again. These vendors are my friends, this is how they make their livlihood.

Finally, I am paying a local seamstress to make me special masks so to be in character. I am helping her stay employed and by wearing her masks, doing advertising for her so others might contact her.
