Uh-oh…

DHS weighing major changes to fight domestic violent extremism, say officials

The Department of Homeland Security, which was created after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to protect the country from international terrorism, is moving toward a sweeping set of policy changes to detect and stop what intelligence officials say is now a top threat: domestic violent extremism.

DHS plans to expand its relationships with companies that scour public data for intelligence, one of the senior officials said, as well as to better harness the vast trove of data it already collects about Americans, including travel and commercial data through Customs and Border Protection, or CBP, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, the Coast Guard, the Secret Service and other DHS components.

“The idea is to identify people who may through their social media behavior be prone to influence by toxic messaging spread by foreign governments, terrorists and domestic extremists,” the official said. “We want to Identify the narratives that are emerging, assess which narratives are likely to incite violence, figure out what targets are likely and then take steps to mitigate the risk. We’re going to do this in a very careful way that is mindful of privacy and civil liberties, because it’s focusing on narratives, not people.”

The officials stressed that the trigger for scrutiny would be plans for violence, not political ideology.

While law enforcement officials may legally examine public social media posts, any effort to do so using sophisticated computer analytical tools is likely to spark concerns among civil liberties activists. And while Americans have long been among those on the government’s various watch lists, a move to restrict the travel of those deemed to be domestic violent extremists — without charging them with crimes — is also likely to be controversial.

That underlined part… if they felt the need to state there would be no need to scrutinize political ideology, then at some point it will be about political ideology. And then restricting travel without being charged for a crime… contact your representatives.

We are looking to stop domestic violent extremism. How are we doing with violent extremists from other countries? I know we nabbed a few walking through the south border.

Beating the drum again – if the authorities would just deal with obvious cases of violence right away, it would correct many people right away.

I thought Snowden already reported on something similar. The phone companies have been cooperating with the NSA/government for meta data collection. In this case they want social to collect 'potential' suspects for the government to investigate.

I wonder how they differentiate between 'violence related to domestic terrorism'...VS...' patriotism' (like exercising your 2nd Amendment rights)?

Our founding documents tell us, we have the power to remove a govt from power (by force if necessary)...wouldnt that look like 'domestic terrorism' if you happen to be within that govt?!!

So the government is FINALLY going to start targeting BLM and Pantifa? Or will they keep making up stories about "right wing terrorists" that live in their little minds?

Howeasy its for the law enforcers to find out our real identity based on wat we post? If some other person posted data like me, i canzeroin onhis location and potentially identify him.

Also does cd share our email with others? If yes they could mistake me for a SS or Nazi only to find out a quiet person in real life.

The Department of Homeland Insecurity is just another Brown Shirt arm of the Democrat Party out to find conservatives and try to find or make up a reason to jail them.

Elections have consequences and right now we have a party in control that is willing to look the other way at criminals and instead are looking to violate the Rights of law abiding citizens.

January 6th really scared them because the fight was taken from Any Main street USA to their House.

The Dems are creating the boogie man they call the domestic terrorism of white supremacy and now they are beating the drum to stir fear for this new enemy. They do this to distract us from the real problems and crisis that threatens all of us.
