Your responsibility is not to “foot the bill” for someone’s else kids. It isn’t a personal issue. Your responsibility is to pay taxes by law. The (elected) government decides how to distribute the funds and tax revenues.
Why am I “responsible” to foot the bill for the US army 20 year deployment in Afghanistan? Why am I “responsible” to foot to bill for the “war on drugs”? I don’t use drugs but I don’t care if others smoke weed. It’s their issue. However the US spent a fortune on fighting drugs over the years (including costly activity in countries like Columbia and Mexico).
Unfortunately I cannot decide what the government does with my taxes. Nobody is asking me (although I’d be more than happy to explain).
Another issue is the number of incarcerated people which exceeds that of any other nation on earth. More that China Russia and India! Prisons cost a fortune but nobody even mentions it. How much my state paid for jails this year? I think that figure can be cut by 30-40% with changes in law. “My money” shouldn’t be spent there.
Look no further than these COVID bills. For those that knew we couldn't afford them or burden the responsibility of them.. Childless adults should NOT be forced to foot the bill for your children. This is one thing that seriously needs to end and people may get the picture and stop breeding at the rapid rate they are. One of the things (outside the border crisis) I don't know why the Repubs don't use as ammunition against the left and magnify it. You could push this and help alleviate the population issue (as a ripple effect will occur) and garner more votes to your side.
We didn't help you actively conceive.. We shouldnt have to help you pay
Who’s going to take care of you when you are old? Probably the children of people who chose to have children, no?
Of course, you could kill yourself the day you retire, which would help alleviate the population issue.

That's my plan stan. Once i ever get sick rick and nothing can be done i have a gun ready freddie I have been 100% bullet proof so far and never even get a cold.
It think it is true that single or childless Americans are penalized too much in the tax system.
Back in the 80's they were called Dinks.
My brother is of that category. He and his wife have done well financially. And career wise. Both go on far more vacations. Contribute to the community and pay taxes. Neither complain since our tax on housing is what gets divided up for schools or municipal projects. Sure we dislike giving our earned funds to programs that are frivolous. Education is not one of them.
Most households that have minors carry a higher deficit (or budget). More dental, more physician , medical, clothing, food. Which goes into the economy.
A dink invests .
If OP is referring to Dems wanting to make the child tax credits permanent, I agree with OP. If this happens, I will vote GOP in the midterms and in 2024 (I have never voted Republican before).
But to play Devil's Advocate, I didn't support the permanent corporate tax cuts, either.
The problem is these tax dollars will never go to specifically where we want them (education, healthcare, law enforcement, etc.).
"The problem is these tax dollars will never go to specifically where we want them (education"
Education is a STATE RESPONSIBILITY as is most law enforcement, NOT the feds.
What do we get for a 68 BILLION dollar annual budget for the Dept of Ed?
Thanks to glorious socialism, America's own population is tanking.
So now, Fearless Leader Bidet tells us to let in surplus population from non-socialist nations.
Why not simply abolish socialism, so the cost of living is no longer too high to have children?
Oh, right - no government willingly gives up revenues and power.
Sigh.

I agree here, about the permanent child tax credits AND the permanent corporate tax cuts.

That is why most of your taxes should be collected at the STATE LEVEL. The only money the FED should be getting is for the military to protect us from foreign dangers. People could then move to the state that spends their tax dollars more fairly. With the FED taking over more and more, you can't hide anywhere from all this waste.
