The core problem is that the elections (which the GOP runs in GA) have systematically been run in a racist manner. Less polling locations, less poll workers, and less voting machines per capita have been allocated to areas that are predominantly minority, creating the situation where there are no lines in white suburban/exurban areas but potentially much longer lines in black inner city areas.
I can't find any real evidence of voter suppression. Sure, all the MSM outlets cry it, but the truth is they reduced the number of polling places while simultaneously increasing the number of early voting days. Meaning, there seems to have been actually a net gain in the ability to vote. In addition, the reduced polling places (with more days to vote early) also happened in rural areas. I imagine it is a lot of work and hard to find volunteers for all those places. Increasing the number of days voters can vote early while reducing the number of overall places makes sense. It's not the government's fault if people wait until the last minute to vote. This appears to be another democrat racism, voter suppression scare hoax.
If a poll worker or a campaign worker or just Joe Schmo wants to give water to people standing in line for hours in the hot sun, why do you have a problem with that? Because it makes it possible for more people to vote, which is what Republicans want to avoid at all cost - higher turnout.

But guess what... right before it says that, it says that it is intended only to modify Georgia Code Section 21-2-414.
And Georgia Code Section 21-2-414 is titled, "§ 21-2-414 - Restrictions on campaign activities and public opinion polling within the vicinity of a polling place; cellular phone use prohibited; prohibition of candidates from entering certain polling places; penalty".
That section's ONLY purpose is to regulate the activities of active campaigners and political pollsters. NOT to regulate what ordinary people do.
It's obvious that no legislature would ever forbid, say, a guy from bringing food or water to his friend waiting in line to vote. But Democrats have been screaming to high heavens to Republicans want to do exactly that, for reasons unknown. Oh, and because rasssist.
Sorry, Dems. Your race-card hoax is exposed, again. It's only illegal for campaigners or pollsters to bring food or water... or any other gifts... to the people waiting in line to vote. In fact, most states already have laws - and have had for decades - saying no campaigning or electioneering is allowed within 100 feet of any polling place on election day (exact distance varies by state).

Yeah, this faux outrage by democrats is laughable. Another law they are freaking out about are the drop boxes. Many have said the law eliminates them completely, others say the law reduces the number allowed. FACT: GA didn't have ANY drop boxes before 2020. An exception was made due to Covid in order to make it easier and safer to vote. The new law secures the future use of drop boxes, so it's actually opening up an additional option to vote on a go forward basis.

This new bill once again limits early voting and absentee voting.
This seems to be a balanced article on the subject. It indicates that Republicans did NOT decrease early voting days. In fact, it requires at least two Saturdays of early voting.
As far as food and drink restrictions it limits it to outside 150' from polling place and 25' from the line. That seems reasonable to me. 150' is nothing. Campaign workers should not be allowed to hand out food and drink to those voting. They have never been allowed to campaign close to poling places. AND again, these laws affect all areas of Georgia, so I don't see the racism intent liberals are crying. They are basically lying about what this bill does, as it hampers their ability to cheat.

Actually most of the huge lines we saw in GA in minority areas were on early voting days, election day lines were more reasonable since more polling places are open on election day.
