Why? You need to show an ID to buy cigarettes, beer, (where available) weed, etc. Why do the Democrats have such an issue with showing an ID to vote? All you have to get one is go to your local DMV. No matter their political affiliation, if someone is just too damn lazy to go to their local DMV to get an ID should they even be voting anyway?

Democrats want fair and honest elections but there are so many better and effective ways to secure our elections rather than repressive voter ID laws. Everyone is able to get a driver’s license but not everybody needs one. And there is no reason people should get a DRIVER’s license when they aren’t even going to drive but rather need it JUST to vote.

Yea but if people don’t NEED one there is no reason for them to get one. I have a driver’s license cause I need to drive. Nobody should get one just to vote.

over 20 million citizens don't have a photo ID. IDs cost money. Requiring an ID means those 20 million people now need to pay cash to vote. That's a problem. Provide a government issued ID at no out of pocket expense to all citizens, and I'd be fine with requiring voter ID.
As it stands, there is no systemic fraud, there's no evidence of illegitimate votes being cast. Requiring ID to vote is a solution looking for a problem.
I can get a free ID, or very low cost.
But apply that same standard to guns. I have a right to bear arms. Does that mean any charges I incur such as a permit are unconstitutional?
