I insisted that he check it out, so he proceeded to kick a tire and then told me that my car is fine, to go away and never bug him about it again.

You do realize that you only know if there is fraud if it's discovered and reported, don't you? Sometimes, you have to do the big boy work of evaluating information on your own, instead of accepting someone else's conclusion. This is one of those times. So much is at stake, you can't trust anyone to be truthful.

If the secretary of state is competent, the person should be vetted before they get on the roll. Then all that is needed is the card sent out every 2 years or one other form of ID. That form of ID is half the reason for the controversy.

It's because they'll lose if they require voter ID. They would rather lie, cheat, and steal.

You really need to look at my next post after the quoted one (link). I don't think fraudulent votes come anywhere near the amount necessary to swamp the result. I think people with open warrants for skipping on desk appearance tickets or parole/probation violations may be quite high. Those people are not keen on identifying themselves even if they have every right to vote.

Also, ID requirements make vote harvesting quite a chore.
