A police officer in North Carolina seen on video lifting a K-9 by his leash and slamming him into a patrol car has resigned.
Salisbury Police Officer James Hampton tendered his resignation after the department recommended him for termination following an external investigation, police said in a news release Wednesday. Hampton was allowed to resign following a due process hearing, according to department policy.
The dog — K-9 Officer Zuul — has since been given a clean bill of health by a veterinarian, police said in a March 5 post on Facebook.
Why did he hurt his k9 dog by hitting him against the police vehicle? Besides resigning, shouldn't he be charged with animal cruelty? I hope the dog was removed from his care as well.
If he was a citizen in the process of being arrested, that would almost certainly result in a charge of assaulting a LEO. It should apply in this case, as well. Resignation isn't enough.
Interesting...there is such a coorlecation between animal abuse and abusing humans that in 2016, the FBI's National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) began collecting detailed data from participating law enforcement agencies on acts of animal cruelty, including gross neglect, torture, organized abuse, and sexual abuse.
Yet still those making apologies and wanting a get out of jail free card for cops committing crimes. Seriously if a civilian had hurt a K9 cop, he would be arrested and charged for assault as if the dog were a human.
Now a cop can come into your fenced yard UNINVITED WITHOUT A WARRANT and SHOOT YOUR DOG DEAD cause he feels threatened. Your dog is mere property, at best you could sue for theft of PROPERTY.
Why arent cops held to at least same standards as civilians. Should be held to a HIGHER standard since they should be setting a moral example for the community.
Do you feel like a big boy now? Got that off your chest?
