It's not a conspiracy. Power is being exerted and indoctrination is going on openly, everywhere.

Why should anyone care if people are so called "Woke"?

There are countless people who believe something that I do not believe in. Can't we agree to disagree?
No, and that's the main problem. Wokesters do not agree that you have the right to disagree. They want to punish you for disagreeing.

What is the point? Is it "They are coming after straight white guys" ? I'm not worried and I'm a straight white guy myself
You'd probably better figure it out, since ignorance and indifference will not shield you.

"Woke" started because there were those who saw the existing hierarchy and its results, and didn't like it. There were those who felt they were being ground under the wheel by the larger social hierarchy. When you don't benefit from the existing hierarchy, or you suffer under it, you'll join up with "woke-ism".

How do you explain so many white liberals becoming woke then? Do they not benefit from the social hierarchy.

Depends. Many White liberals are also gay or into alternative lifestyles.

The truth is close to the opposite of this. Woke co-opts some of the concerns of the poor and those on the fringes of society, but it was spawned and is mainly propagated by the privileged class. It's now spreading among the masses but still, there's no place more woke than elite college and prep school campuses.

When it started it wasn't for the elites. It was for the dispossessed. I was talking about where it started, not where it has ended up at.

Yes I think that would account for some of them, but not the vast majority.

I think it's because many are scared cowards (the ones who pretend to go along with it but actually couldn't give a sh1t), too young to understand the real world, or too stupid to not critically analyse what they are being fed.

Well, explain the "woke" movements pre-1970s. And for the record, I was talking about where woke started, not where it has ended up. Woke started long before the 70s or 60s. And it alot of it originated with those who didn't fit in with the social hierarchy, the dispossessed, or those who just found the social hierarchy of that time to be abhorrent. Those at the very bottom and were not happy about it would be the most likely to join up with the "woke". I don't agree with the idea that it was about destabilizing society.
