Police say officers were dispatched to a largely Latino neighborhood in the city’s West Side on March 29 after the department’s ShotSpotter technology detected eight gunshots. When police arrived, Adam and a 21-year-old man fled, according to Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown.

There was an "armed confrontation" during which the officer shot Adam once in the chest, police said. He died at the scene. The 21-year-old man was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.

Lightfoot, however, suggested that Adam had the gun.

"We will find the person who put the gun in Adam’s hand," Lightfoot said. "An adult put a gun in a child’s hand, a young impressionable child who should not be provided with lethal force."

Apparently, this 13 year had a gun and was shooting it. He ran and was shot by police.

His family is saying he was a loving boy that would not hurt anyone.

If he was so loving, then why did he have a gun?

There might be some riots of this one....unsure if police foot pursuit tactics need to be reformed to let armed criminals run free ....

How about parents just telling their kids if you shoot at the police or point a gun at them, you will probably be killed. And while they’re at it, tell them don’t fight with the police, resist arrest, or try to grab their weapon. NOTHING good will come from those actions. How hard is this ??

What the hell is a 13 year old kid doing out at 2"30 am with a gun?
That is the question that needs to be asked, and answered.

The Little Village neighborhood used to be the hood, it has gentrified, but still has some of the hood left in it.

The locals can probably figure out that the police was likely not at fault. It'll be interesting to see what comes of it.

I don't want this to be used as an excuse for the gangbanging community to defang the police.

The kid was a thug.

The mom is going to get millions when her arse should’ve been thrown in jail for letting her kid “Bvby Diablo” run the streets at all hours with the Latin Kings.

Why was the 13-year old kid even allowed outside at 2:30 am? Really, the entire problem starts that low in the sequence of advents.

These are the questions that need to be addressed....it's the same, whether it's Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Atlanta...etc.

Instead, this administration feels the need to try and restrict or ban a rifle over it's looks.

Here, let me solve it for her. The 21 year old put it in the kids hand because he's now only facing a misdemeanor where if caught the kid is a juvenile. This is a trick that's been used for 50 years or more in Chicago. Gee, it's almost like gangs know how to get around the law.
