I think people didn't realize that the food pantry lines didn't dry up besides holiday meals. Then again, the holidays are traditionally when we hear about food scarcity. I am not sure that the 1 in 10 number is true, but I can tell you, a lot more people are food insecure than we realize. While employment is coming back, many are still without jobs until the virus is contained and the variants are just a flu-like level of nussiance.

omg,..America Is the Crazy Cat Lady. I love it,...lol.

Just last week I helped a couple get food from the local food pantry. They needed some food to tide them over till payday and I put them in touch with my pastor, who was able to get into the food pantry to get a few boxes for them.

The point? There are means by which people can get food.

Someone has to pay for the food that the food pantry dispenses. It's not free.

Where do you live? My father runs a food pantry in Maine and he says there's been much more of an increase in supply than in demand. They often have more food coming in than they can store.

Don't worry, with more COVID lockdowns and people losing their livelihoods, the human body will simply adapt to not eating.

It was 1 in a 1000, when Trump lifted everyone up.

Many food pantries are also locally run.

Or tied to Churches. Donations, food drives.

It used to be that to take part in these, you'd need to be part of the community or they use it to get people to their congregation. Basically, you needed to be part of a decent social community and at least act nice.

But all these gov't hand outs do is turn it into a Cold methodical injection. Nothing asked by the receiver. You can be a total schlep and drain and/or criminal. The gov't doesn't know or care.

With a country that has rising obesity numbers and free food at every turn I find it hard that anyone in the US "lacks" food.

When this Republic was founded, it wasn’t based on the idea that Washington DC was supposed to feed your children, or you, for that matter.

I’m opposed to any part of my taxes going toward the food, shelter, and healthcare of others. That is your responsibility. If you can’t take care of yourself, you shouldn’t exist. Also, if you can’t or won’t take care of your own children, they shouldn’t exist, either.

So tired of this damn nanny state where I am required to pay for YOUR mistakes in life.

Yes, someone has to pay. Usually donors.
