Yes Trump pined openly on many occasions to be like autocrats that could actually declare themselves leaders for life. After FDR did that, we decided that we wouldn’t be having any more of that here.
Vladimir Putin has rewritten the term limits for his position, once again, positioning him to rule until at least 2036, if he so chooses. Like Xi Jinping in China, he is effectively on a path to rule for life. This is where leftism leads - to this.
