Once the Georgia voting laws were signed by the governor, making them official, coca cola, delta , mlb etc decided to pull up stakes so to speak.
Especially mlb moving the all star game to Colorado.
That is kind of like saying, if you proceed with this law, we are leaving.
Isn't that the same as extortion?
Even boycotts are a form of extortion.
Last I checked, extortion is a felony.

Obviously, extortion doesn't mean what you think it means.
Extortion is, "if you don't do as I say, or what I want, I will injure you in some way."
That is extortion.
So in the same way, if:
An employer fires someone for not doing what they are told.
A elected official does not keep his/her promise and someone leaves the state/country.
California raises taxes and companies leave the state.
What a failed thread. No boycotts are not extortion they are free will. And a few corporations voicing their disapproval is not the same with them leaving the state nor is extortion if they did.
Seems to me the Matt Gaetz story has created an extortion frenzy. Now everything is extortion.
It is not extortion. Every side can do what they want. Otherwise you could claim that every negotiation between two sides is an extortion: “if you don’t lower the price, I’m going with your competitor”.
That being said, commercial companies should get involved directly in politics. “It’s against our values”- BS! Your values are making profits. The other stuff is just PR. However, the problem started long ago when the Supreme Court decided that corporations are like private citizens (in matters of political donations). That was a bad decision! Now the corporations are behaving like private citizens by picking sides....
You may want to look at the United States Constitution if you plan on coming here to live.

This is the loosest use of extortion I have seen.

You have to keep in mind that not everyone on these forums is from America. If you look at this thread and this one: https://www.city-data.com/forum/poli...-we-there.html, it appears that the OP is not familiar with the US, our government and our laws.
These are good questions for someone just learning about our country.
