When you're either woke or an idiot, but I repeat myself, virtue signaling is very important. These people seem completely blind and unaware of what they're doing.

Question: Who in their right mind would do this?
Answer: No one in their right mind would do this.

Maybe Johns Hopkins or other famed medical institution should make a similar announcement. We're hiring on racial quotas, not skill level! Ain't we smart!!??
Of course, Johns Hopkins would never do that, would they? There are certain requirements for idiocy. First, you have to be an idiot.

lol
Why do you position it as an either/or. Maybe they are capable of hiring "ONLY qualified pilots", and also achieving diversity. If you don't want to fly on a plane because you have been taught to not trust blacks to be capable of being qualified, then you have the right to fly another airline.

Either way, we just suffered four years of people being hired because they are "loyal" to a con-man. I'd consider qualifications and race to both be a better benchmark than that, so.......

When will the NBA and NFL be instituting racial quotas?

I don't see enough Asian, Hispanics, and whites.

Doesn’t flying hours somehow equate to competence for pilots? Given that more experience = better pilot, raw talent has less importance as number of flight hours increases. I’d rather have someone who has more hours. In reality, commercial airlines like to use less experienced pilots because they are cheaper. So it not what I want, it’s what makes the most economic sense for the airline.

Used to be other than a small private plane pilots license one had to have correctable 20/20 vision to fly jets, and were competent in academics includidng STEM, healthy enough that the perils of flying would not affect you. Just the physical and academic requirements probably still knock a lot of people out of the box. Decades ago couldn't even wear glasses period, had to have uncorrected 20/20 vision for flying military jets. I know of people denied flight training in military and they were accepted to at least one of the academies. Even air traffic control wanted 20/20 vision corrected.

Those who came from the military have minimal problem going into to commercial jets. Those who went the private route had to rack up all sorts of private/commercial hours in smaller planes and take alot of courses & debt. The process and requirements tend yo filter out alot of people regardless of race.

Being a pilot isn't just about applying then going through company training. Have to and should be the complete package. It's not just a job.

Standards don't see race nor give a damn about diversity. They're standards. Harvard would be 70% Asian if liberals didn't discriminate against Asians. Why? Because Asians meet the standards, better than any other demographic.

Every job is not going to have a perfect proportion of gays, blacks, trans, asians, immigrants, muslims, veterans, jews, because not every demographic of society equally wants to be in those sectors of the job market.

Democrats claim blacks don't even have an ID to vote, but you expect us to be pilots?
Right now United pilots are only 7% women and 13% people of color, that is far off a perfect proportion. I see nothing to indicate they are dropping standards so I will count that as opinion rather than fact, sounds much like Tucker Carlson's rant the other night without facts. They are hiring 10,000 by 2030 with half coming from their academy and the other have from other airlines and the military so it seems half are already licensed pilots, how is that dropping standards. So where do you read that the academy is lowering the bar.

Same logic was used to exclude women and minorities in the past from executive positions.

Sports in general is the purest form of screening by competency since it is based mostly on athleticism, you can't educate someone to be an NBA caliber player but you can sure train someone to be a pilot through education.

The entire purpose of this talking point is to point out how the system is systemically racist because you don’t see a directly proportional representation of x group in x industry based on demographics.

You don’t get to change the tactics being used just to fit your ideology. The rhetoric you’re using requires race, gender, ethnicity, etc. to be considered to meet the goal of a “perfect proportion.”

Finally, CRT’s adversaries are perhaps most concerned with what they perceive to be critical race theorists’ nonchalance about objective truth. For the critical race theorist, objective truth, like merit, does not exist, at least in social science and politics. In these realms, truth is a social construct created to suit the purposes of the dominant group.

Critical race theory’s contribution to the defense of affirmative action has consisted mainly of a determined attack on the idea of merit and standardized testing. Conservatives make points by charging that affirmative action gives jobs or places in academic programs to individuals who do not deserve them. The public receives incompetent service, while better-qualified workers or students are shunted aside. This argument resonated with certain liberals who equate fairness with color blindness and equal opportunity, rather than equal results.

Merit: Individual worthiness; critical race scholars question the view that people may be ranked by merit and that distribution of benefits is rational and just.
Critical Race Theory: An Introduction
Delgado and Stefancic

You all keep arguing with CRT talking points but you don’t know any of the literature. Merit is a “master’s tool” that cannot be used to “dismantle the master’s house.”
