It's the people not the things. It's lack of concience and ends justify the means mentally that seems to be in these cities en masse. Until collateral damage becomes a priority for these criminals, not lost souls, political victims or hug lacker this will continue regardless of what things they use.
Life is not about them but they think it is. The second they don't get their way or someone react or view the way they think they should it's worth a violent response for what-ego, pride. Life, other's lives are not about them so keep others out of it.
Violent criminals do not understand anything other than violence and death. When you don't care if you live or die, when you have a nihilist, hateful mentality, you aren't going to care about anyone else. Getting tough on crime will certain take violent criminals off of the streets. It won't stop new violent criminals from cropping up.

Another "let's blame Obama for crime problems". Philadelphia has been plagued with violent crime issues since the 1960s. This is something no President can solve.
the left continues to engage in academic theory whose guestimated endpoint is sometime in the distant future. Meanwhile innocent lives are lost.
Same with jobs, they promised sometime in the distant future new jobs will be created! What are people going to do in the meantime?
Reality escapes them as they wallow in theoretical fantasy which falls apart when it meets reality.
Gives them breathing room, they actually accomplish nothing but when pressed, they say they are working hard and need time. there is not enough time in the universe to give the academocentric left to accomplish any theorized promise made.

IMHO, as a collective, most Americans are pretty stupid and that’s what the Democrats depend on and the sad thing is that this tactic is working.
I believe, by using the current data on the numbers of violent criminal activity across the country, especially in most every Democratic controlled city, 2021 is going to be a record breaking year. I live in one of the most liberal parts of the country and most of my very liberal family and friends are now buying guns for protection since in Seattle, violent crime has sky rocketed, as the cut the police budget... And to their surprise, nearly 200 cops either retired or quit the police force with recruitment at a all time low.

The problem isn't violent criminals.
The problem is a disproportionate amount of violent criminals are coming from one demographic.
When DEMOCRATS tell poor blacks, they're endless hopeless victims and can't even get a damn ID, then you see blacks throwing away their lives over stupid stuff life this.

Liberals love to give speeches full of dreams that aren't based on reality.
There is no solution to Philadelphia and many other Democratic cities extreme rates of violence they are full of multiple generations of poor queens and kings who had as many babies as they could for many, many years.
The Democrats also laugh at manufacuturing and construction jobs that could keep a lot of young men in their 20s out of trouble.
Can you tell us the Republican lead cities that are perfect and don't have the same issues. Maybe we can all move there or maybe the Democrat lead cities can just copy their policies.
No plan is going to work. We are going to now live with this. When almost anyone can get a gun, this is the result.
I don't blame guns for this. These nine shootings could have easily been 9 stabbings or 9 bludgeoned if guns were banned. Or someone getting a car and running over several people. However, part of me is inclined to believe you on the no plan being able to work. Just not for the reasons you're thinking of. We're dealing with individuals who don't value life very much. We're dealing with individuals who believe violence is the answer to every problem. People who just don't care about anyone. Philadelphia (as well as other cities) struggles with gang problems and all that comes with that. When there are people who have a culture of death, a culture of violence, and nihilism, there will be those that kill, no matter what.
Considering Jamaica. Jamaica has some very gun laws. Jamaica has one of the highest murder rates in North America outside of Central America. Jamaica has issues with gangs. Jamaica had one of the laws murder rates in the world up to 1962. Jamaica started getting strict on guns in the years following independence. Ordinary citizens have a hard time legally getting guns. And yet the murder rate in Jamaica is quite high. Getting strict on guns didn't work for Jamaica. People who are determined to kill will find a way.
Kingston, the capital and largest city of Jamaica. In 2018, Kingston had a murder rate of 169 per 100,000.

It's how rabidly partisan extremists view the world, through a political lens of either "my team" or "their team" where every event/information must be viewed in a way to lay or absolve blame.
