As a volcano erupts on the island of St Vincent, residents are told to evacuate, but only allowed to leave on cruise ships (the owners of whom are not requiring the vaccine, the government is) if they are fully vaccinated against covid.
Residents of a Caribbean island attempting to flee a volcanic eruption will not be permitted to travel to neighboring countries offering refuge unless they produce proof showing that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
That is crazy and so wrong but then again if the unvacinated people can get to the US Southern Border they will be welcomed in and given everything they need even if they have Covid.
The cruise ship has made agreements that they would only have vaccinated passengers. There are many other groups and individuals getting the unvaccinated out of harm's way.
But to lay out the whole story isn't nearly as exciting.
Pathetic how easily many Americans are played by the media.

Several of the surrounding islands said they would not accept evacuees if they weren't vaccinated.
Did you forget that part ?

Incorrect.

In an emailed statement, Carnival said it was not making vaccinations a requirement for this humanitarian mission.
The Serenade of the Seas evacuated 137 St Vincentians to St. Lucia on Saturday.
Not a very effective use of available resources. The Serenade has a capacity of almost 2,500 passengers. Taking only 137 seems like launching the Titanic's lifeboats half-filled.
Hotels that are being turned into refugee centers are asking that people be vaccinated, a request that Gonsalves said was “not unreasonable.”
Another bit from your link...while business and governments are refusing the unvaccinated at least people themselves are stepping up to help:
Gonsalves said residents across the Caribbean had been offering their homes as temporary shelters.
“On this dangerous road to Jericho, we have good Samaritans,” he said, wiping away tears.
It’s crazy. They would rather people suffocate to death from volcanic gases, buried in ash or burned to death from molten lava then not be fully vaccinated for a virus with a 1% death rate. This is total insanity and those making these policies and agreeing with them clearly don’t really care about saving lives as much as they care about forcing people to take the vaccine.
