I see where Texas is negotiating withe Facebook to subsidize a new data center in return for no censorship.

Quote:
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared the Lone Star State is "taking a stand" against online censorship of conservatives and backed new legislation to combat the practice.
....................
He added that Facebook and Twitter are "in the position" where they pick winning and losing "viewpoints" that are allowed to be shared on their websites.

"Texas is taking a stand against Big Tech political censorship," declared Abbott. "We are not going to allow it in the Lone Star State."

The former state attorney general explained that the bill, Senate Bill 12, "prohibits social media companies from censoring Texans" based upon their "viewpoints" and create an avenue for people who have been "canceled, censored or deplatformed" to seek legal action and get back online.

Half a step.
Big tech needs to either be broken up or regulated as a monopoly. Facebook is the modern "public square"
The devil is in the details of how and that still leaves...
Throw in 95% of media is blatantly left of center and for example pushed Biden... But in no way does the NYT for example qualify as any form of monopoly.

Yes I find it funny the GOP helped empower these people through CU.

Interesting how so much is about Corporate Incentives to steal from the rest of the US established Corporations and it is like free money with a HITCH that is not something like only for a certain number of years now of tax breaks.... it may get more hitches of Big Gov. It will be interesting on how many Companies take the bait..... then Texas can continue to seek the rest of us to help pay for every disaster the state gets while some like its Congressmen like Ted Cruz.... votes for Texas relief.... then voted NOT to provide it for NY/NJ after hurricane Sandy did a number on NYC region and the New Jersey Shore..... literally he voted against aid for up North then.

Still if it works.... it is a feather in the Govs hat and do some realize that just before this winters Big Texas Freeze event that needed another Gov bailout and Fema. The Gov sponsored a Bill with another Politician AGAIN for Texas Independence from the US. I am waiting to see if that does make in on the Texas voting ballot again?

Everyone in this Nation seems to be wanting division of even the Nation in North against South against the West, Rural vs Cities and States even to go rogue in the name of Patriotism yet and all the disunity and blame. Even threads that say pop up from the Right on C-D to label the Dems everything evil to have a literal plan for White America.... titled .. We can replace them.

Add the TX Gov wants a bill to force sports teams to play the National Anthem. Kind of Big Gov stepping on something that was a tradition and never some Founding Fathers Plan. Still not a big deal.... just things like this they then turn around and label Big Governments hand where it does not belong and Socialism/Facsism/Communism things where a Gov forces a hand small things lead to big things.....

I am glad I lived most of my life under Dem and Rep Presidents and none of the doomsayers were as bad as today. Disunity was not so total as risking implosion of the Nation from within. Both parties lead to abandonment of our major cities to bring declines that lead to many of our issues that got worse today... the great migration of Manufacturing and other outsourcing to Asia we did to ourselves and both Parties too. There would be no might of China today.... if not for bringing them up the the 20th now 21st century in hyper-speed and their cities are booming, clean and building and doing all the Big Plans we use to build.

I agree that the big social media companies do need to be monitored but I don't see having no censorship at all working.
