Darling, doesn't CA have serious smog issues, either from all the traffic or the fires that start to burn up in the north? And of course, all it takes is that one earthquake, or a major riot, or an attack from a foreign power from the Pacific.
How many people died in earthquakes in california in the last century? Between Loma Prieta, Sylmar, Northridge, Coalinga...is it even 150? Smog is much better and wildfires are an issue that can be dealt with, through vigilant brush clearing for instance. Only the worst Santa Anas are really dangerous. 2003 in San Diego burned everything in its path, 35 miles till it hit the ocean, in one night. 5,000 homes destroyed, 15 killed. Areas that hadnt burned in 3 decades. 100 cities fire depts could not stop it. I remember that Sunday morning, it did seem like the end of the world but the way everyone pitched in and helped each other was amazing. Neighbors helping neighbors, putting their own interests aside. San Diego is not unique like that but I doubt anyone is better at it either.
Once again, lots of people want to live in coastal California, due to the awesome mountain views and the short drive to the beach, and then the awesome daily weather! What nice, decent 3 bedroom house isn't priced at over $1 million there? Would you want to live in a 3 bedroom house for $175,000 in Enid, OK where the landscape is ruler flat with no trees and the weather frequently BAD? HELL, NO!!! I thought so!
You wouldn't know it if you went to my work. Most of them thought I was out of my mind.
Also usually I'm an oddball on pretty much everything. It's become a running joke with me that they discontinue foods just because I like them as I'm the only one eating them.
It'd be nice if I really was an oddball on this too like it seems in my neck of the woods because then it'd be a lot more affordable. I guess I'm more likely to be an oddball when it works against me.
Well society tells you renting is worse than speeding in a school zone, so it's no wonder everyone thinks get a massive house is the key to all of our problems.
It’s crazy. You even got McDonald workers angry at life because they can’t buy a home.
