Then let’s get rid of free speech and other rights. Let’s go back to horse and buggy’s because cars kill people, let’s get rid of knives. Let’s get rid of the right to demostrate because it turns into riot and destruction.

Obama was President when this happened, he could have pushed for it if he wanted to.
Actually, I think he did but Congress wasn't willing to support it. I think he burned up a whole bunch of political capital that ended up in a failure. On the day that Congress didn't support him on this, he expressed a deep statement of regret that the country didn't change.
One has to appreciate what was going on in that aftermath. People were buying up guns massively because they thought their government was going to turn against them massively, that they were going have to fight their government. That's what kind of turning point it was, the people thought that war with their government was very likely.
Sandy Point was a turning point of a sorts, considering what happened between the people and government afterwards, just not the turning point that various wish to see.

Sandy Hook should have been a turning point...but the democrats REFUSE to talk about mental health, because this was not a gun control issue, but a mental instability issue
