As mask mandates end, Oregon bucks trend with permanent rule

https://apnews.com/article/coronavir...30da5a8648af95

I lived in Oregon about 20 years ago. I will never live there again. What kind of nonsense is this?

I'm so tired of conservatives whining about masks. Just wear them until the virus is conquered. It's not that hard.

The article made it clear that "permanent" does not mean forever.

We are currently camping along the Oregon Coast. Some wear masks; some don’t. We do even though we have been fully vaccinated. It is just what we do. I want this virus GONE! And, I lean more conservative than liberal.

It could mean forever. I am a Libertarian not a "conservative" and the story is from AP. Anything else you want to get wrong?

People deserve an end date for all of this. 70% vaccinated all restrictions lifted.

You wearing a mask is not going to make the virus GONE! What you are doing out camping on the Oregon coast is not gone to change anything on a state or national level.

I'm as tired of the pandemic as anyone else, so I googled the headline from OP's link, "As mask mandates end, Oregon bucks trend with permanent rule." I'm sure that it will surprise no one here that the MSM simply adored that headline and they all repeated it to their readers/viewers before you could say "gesundheit." It's certainly attention grabbing and all but guaranteed to secure outrage and the ratings that result.

Alas, if you read the story, Oregon had to call the mask wearing mandate "permanent" due to some sort of technicality in Oregon state law. A TV station out of Portland, Oregon was the only one to explain clearly just exactly what's going on. Needless to say, the mask mandate is NOT permanent and will be repealed once the appropriate state public health officials give the all-clear.

I guess all the furor in the MSM was their little way or owning the conservatives.

Once again, people need to get over being so dang cowardly about coming down sick with COVID-19, including the rule makers. Most of all people who are vaccinated.

D oesn't surprise me in the least. Blue states are going to continue this madness forever it seems like. I'm beginning to think it's only a matter of time before the United States splits apart. The ultimate question will be how. Will it be a messy civil war? Or will it be a peaceful split?

Or you can wear a mask and I don’t. Everyone is happy. Only libs are trying to force their will. If you want to wear it, Fine.
