If Chauvin is convicted, the sentence may not be announced on the same day.
What if he is convicted of manslaughter and eventually given perhaps a five year sentence, which in terms of time served could be shorter than that with good behavior? This seems like a very plausible outcome here.
Here is the first paragraph from the Minnesota statutes for the charge of Manslaughter:
609.205 MANSLAUGHTER IN THE SECOND DEGREE.
A person who causes the death of another by any of the following means is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $20,000, or both:
Chauvin is not likely to get the max here, if he is convicted of Manslaughter, considering the extenuating circumstances. Just saying.
Bingo...and there will be celebration, rioting, looting, etc..., in just about all Dem cities.
I imagine there were be quite a few cities affected by riots regardless of the outcome. However, it will not be happening in Flordia cities. At least with impunity.
Here is the Minnesota statute for Murder in the third degree:
609.195 MURDER IN THE THIRD DEGREE.
(a) Whoever, without intent to effect the death of any person, causes the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life, is guilty of murder in the third degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 25 years.
Chauvin as far as I am aware has not been shown to be of "Depraved mind," and his actions were not "without regard for human life". It is also not at all clear that the manner in which he subdued Floyd was "eminently dangerous to others".
This clearly was not Murder. It might be Manslaughter, but that is debatable.
Tomorrow is Closing Arguments from both sides. After that, the case will go to the jury.
The jury might take 1 hour to reach a verdict. Or maybe 1 day. Maybe 1 week, maybe 1 month etc.
Once they reach a verdict and announce it, how many U.S. cities will have riots that same evening?
(Yes, doesn't matter what the verdict is.)
Remember, this is just the number of riots we see in the first day that the verdict is announced. No doubt they will spread to more cities on the day after it's announced, etc. etc.
But how many cities will have riots on the SAME DAY it's announced, or that evening?
I would say look at the cities in which rioting/looting was rampant last summer. No question we will see the same after a verdict is announced.
The business communities such cities understand they are pretty much on on their own. Most will begin boarding up their store and other will hire private security. I expect the local police or national guard will be ordered to stand down unless shots are fired.
Otherwise expect nothing done as looters start to ransack stores.
The irony is any shooting might between looters fighting over the goods. I'm sure stores have already been targeted. Once the verdict is in the clock starts ticking.

No, they don’t. They let feelings get in the way of reality.
Leaning with the facts. Not guilty of Murder charges. Guilty of the Manslaughter charge.
Which will result in rioting.
