1. Maxine Waters should not have said what she said.
2. I have to criticize the judge for even extending the possibility that any comments, no matter how dumb, made outside of the courtroom by people with no standing could be a reason for appeal. Is there evidence the jury heard what Waters said? The judge should have quietly swatted that idea down without the political comment.
I wouldn't exactly diminish Waters as a "person of no standing," as if she's just some Joe Blow on the street. She is an elected United States Congresswoman who is pressuring the jury to vote to convict under threat of violence otherwise.
And you honestly think the jurors didn't get wind of it? If so, I know a nice bridge you might be interested in.....
with an unsequestered jury, I'd say Waters saying nothing short of 1st degree murder will suffice is ample grounds for a mistrial.
That was my thought. Maxine Waters is free to say whatever she wants within reason but the jury should have been sequestered to shield from that and all of the other coverage.
But my only legal knowledge of sequestration is based upon the facts that I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express many times, I did apply to law school once and my father was a lawyer/judge (although most of the law I learned from him were just good lawyer jokes).
No, they won’t. However, if he ends up found guilty of murder, Chauvin can now argue the jurors were afraid of rioting since she called for it if he was found anything but guilty of murder.
Never going to happen. It's an easy guilty verdict. The problem is Maxine Waters just all but guaranteed he gets off on the appeal, especially now that the judge responded to her idiotic commentary.
how come that hag madmaxxine hasn't been banned for life from twitter yet?
Maxine Waters is 82 years old. She's represented the south side of Los Angeles in Congress since 1991, replacing a man who was born in 1904 and had represented the district since 1963. There are many reasons for Maxine Waters to go away, the least of which is her mouth. C'mon LA...are there not some decent Gen-X, old school Democrats out there that would represent you better? I have to believe there are.
Rioting unlawful masses will burn their own neighborhoods down. My suburb will stay ultra safe. So I'll turn to watch the riot show in between innings of my Mets game, while enjoying my desserts after supper.
I do feel sorry for the shop keepers, but, if wise, they will take the insurance money and rebuild in safe communities that support just lawful behavior, while leaving their ex staff jobless.
Absolutely. The jury and anyone testifying would be a target if the verdict doesn't go their way.
There's already been witness tampering against those who testified for the defense. One of them found his house smeared with pig blood.
Edited to add: Even worse. They left the HEAD of the pig there, too. These left-wing savages are just disgusting.
