I agree with the other posters. The Revolutionary War was not caused by gun control. Massachusetts and Virginia were already in a state of rebellion. The British actions were a response to colonial provocations and militia buildup.
The notion that the war would have been avoided if Britain hadn't tried to take our guns is a load of right-wing crap.
246 years ago today, on April 19, 1775, British soldiers entered the towns of Lexington and Concord, MA, to seize the privately-owned guns of American colonists. American farmers, squirrel hunters, housebuilders, shoemakers etc. decided they'd had enough of such abuse of their rights, and so lined up to resist an army of the finest troops in the world, who outnumbered them significantly.
The colonial leader, Capt. John Parker, said to his troops, "Stand your ground; don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here." Shooting started, and people on both sides were killed and injured. The British started back toward where they came from (Boston), and the Americans harried and sniped at them from roadside forests all the way.
It was the start of the American Revolution, started by Americans who were tired of getting their taxes increased more and more with no real way to vote on their taxes, getting treated as second-class citizens, etc. The battle was finally triggered by British attempts at colonial versions of Government Gun Control.
Fast forward to today. Normal American are getting tired of their taxes raised with very little chance to vote against them, and government "gun control" efforts are once again on the rise, with those normal Americans getting treated more and more like second-class citizens.
A sign of things to come?
We should hope not. But todays "liberals" won't stop until this country is full commie.

Reason: typo
Based on the fact that it took Canada 200 years longer to fully gain independence from Britain when they did it the peaceful way, I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with this.
The threats to our nation, our liberties and freedoms are clear and evident. The basis for this situation is the disappearance of respect for our country's heritage, our laws and for the symbols of our great democracy. The burning of the Stars and Stripes by a few was permitted to grow into the madness of Colin Kaepernick's taking the knee to the flag and anthem that has now overwhelmed the nation. It's time citizens of all colors, backgrounds and beliefs come together, once again, to honor what this great nation has always stood for and what is still offers all of us: Freedom, Liberty and Equality.
I suggest that we all take the bull by the horns and rise up to fight for our flag and nation. When in a group meeting, be it in a house of worship, community event or other gathering of people, ask the leader to begin the event with a pledge to the flag, which should always be prominently displayed. If your request is denied, have ready a hand held flag, stand, raise it and begin reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
You'll be surprised at how many will automatically and gratefully join in, hands on hearts or raised in salute. Those who choose to remain seated surely have the right to do so. And they have the right to have others take note of their actions, as well. The shame of their behavior will be a consequence of their actions. We must take small measures such as this to defeat the growing successful militancy of the "Hate America" contingency.
One step at a time. It only takes one person.....you.
