considering his attempt to plea guilty to murdering Floyd, I'd say justice was served, along with some fava beans and a nice Chianti...phhh, phhh, phhh, phhh...
I cannot imagine the immense pressure that the jury members were under knowing the potential consequences of their deliberations and decisions. The entire situation around the city/state must bleed into their consciousness.
This goes for any high profile case though, and I wonder if he had been found not guilty whether the same people in this thread would continue to say it wasn't a fair trial?
That would be the case in a re-trial, as well, since any future jury would be under the same pressure to convict on all counts. They would know that if they threw out the life-sentence one (the most serious one), all of Minneapolis and other other leftist cities would burn.
might as well give the rioters something to actually riot about.

Are you claiming there will not be a retrial? If so, on what basis?
They said the judge should have declared a mistrial but judges hate trials in the first place because it takes a lot of time from their schedule and their dockets get backed up. Also, the chances of a conviction on a retrial goes down.
What do you mean that judges hate trials? Isn’t their primary job to preside over trials?
Can't see how that can help Chauvin's case. The defense had an opportunity to destroy the prosecution's arguments and they didn't,
all the arguments that this juror was swayed by public opinion would be even more so during the next trial.
The judge did ask jurors not to follow the trial on the news. Maxine Waters statement may not have been known to the jurors. It could have been -- but it may not have been.
And even if it was -- the new jury would have the same info.
So they could go through the whole song and dance again but not sure the outcome would be any better. I suspect they will wait to see what the sentence is right? If it is on the lower side of the potential options, Chauvin's team may choose not to go through the whole trial again and reminding everyone and a new judge that most folks testified Chauvin was out of line with his actions.
How can Chauvin’s conviction be overturned? Cities would be burned to the ground.
I’ve heard it said many times that because of what Maxine Waters said, the conviction would be over turned. If that happened. The judge would fear for his life. Cities would be destroyed. I don’t think they would risk it.
Yes, but that award was made before a trial to determine any degree of guilt. And the $27 million is ridiculous.
Whether you agree with the settlement amount or not is irrelevant.
Is there any law or precedent that civil trials should only happen after criminal trials?
The bar for civil charges is FAR lower than for criminal. As such, the settlement is indicative of nothing when it comes to the criminal charges and trial.
