Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz is indicating that the Chauvin verdict should be reversed, as a result of outside threats and intimidation towards the jury. He also stated that "the judge made a terrible mistake by not sequestering the jury.”

Alan Dershowitz: Chauvin verdict 'should be reversed,' citing outside 'threats and intimidation' toward jury

Lawyer Alan Dershowitz said Derek Chauvin’s guilty verdict in the death of George Floyd "should be reversed on appeal" because of “threats” from outside influences, such as Rep. Maxine Waters.

“Well, first, what was done to George Floyd by officer Chauvin was inexcusable, morally, but the verdict is very questionable because of the outside influences of people like Al Sharpton and people like Maxine Waters,” he told Newsmax in an interview on Tuesday.

“Their threats and intimidation and hanging the Sword of Damocles over the jury and basically saying, 'If you don’t convict on the murder charge and all the charges, the cities will burn, the country will be destroyed,' seeped into the jury room because the judge made a terrible mistake by not sequestering the jury,” he said.
It should be noted that Dershowitz is not saying that Chauvin did not use excessive force or that he should not have been convicted of one of the charges, especially manslaughter. Just that Chauvin was not provided a fair and appropriate trial, and that the conviction has been sufficiently tainted by that so that it should not stand. Of course even the judge in the case noted that there were very possibly grounds for appeal after the comments by Representative Maxine Waters.

What a tragedy it will be if the leftist mob and its leaders have so tainted this case that it must be overturned. We cannot have trials that are motivated by fear of the Democrat left mob, as it clearly appears was the case during this trial.

I want to see police officers held accountable for excessive use of force, and it is certainly not OK for people to be dying while being taken into custody, after they have been handcuffed. A manslaughter verdict appeared to be supportable by the facts, but the fast verdict of guilty on the two murder charges further undermines the sanctity of this ruling.

This is not over yet, guys. And it is largely the fault of the Democrat left mob and its leaders, and of their incendiary and arguably terrorist behavior, that this is the case.

They will need to present evidence on appeal that the jury might have had reasonable doubt if not for the inappropriate comments. I think that will be a tall order.

The jury members were obviously afraid of retaliation and their livelihoods being destroyed by the leftwing gestapo if they gave any verdict other than guilty.

This verdict not be overturned, no matter how hard many of you hope for it. Nothing Waters or Biden said changed the basic facts of this case, and that's what the jury used to reached its verdict.

All of this talk about the jury being afraid is simply rightwing talking points. There is zero proof of this, yet this meme is being perpetrated through the MAGAspheres all over social media as if it is a fact.

It's not.

The verdict will stand.

Do you have a link to share or some info to back that claim?

Just because you say it on a random internet forum, doesn't make it so

Dershowitz has become a foolish caricature. The verdict will not be reversed just because some public figures shared their opinions that he didn't like.

Chauvin is a repugnant murderer and anyone who denies that is a racist, period. He killed someone just because he could, and that makes him a far more horrible person than the man he killed.

That is what Alan Dershowitz is effectively suggesting.

What people have to do is put themselves in the place of Chauvin.

If, in fact, tomorrow they were charged with serious crimes... would they want the rule to be that congresspeople can encourage rioting if they were NOT convicted? Would they want people to threaten the jury in the media?

I mean if you want that kind of circus... fine... I mean you won't own the media forever.

But that isn't the country my constitution prohibits.

It will be overturned... by the top court in the state or the USSC.

Alan Dershowitz? Isn't that the guy that says he keeps his underwear on when getting massaged by underage girls while hanging around with Jeffrey Epstein?
