ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina deputy shot and killed a Black man while serving a search warrant Wednesday, authorities said, spurring an outcry from community members who demanded law enforcement accountability and the immediate release of body camera footage.
Authorities wouldn't provide details of the shooting but an eyewitness said that Andrew Brown Jr. was shot while trying to drive away, and that deputies fired at him multiple times. The car skidded out of Brown's yard and eventually hit a tree, said Demetria Williams, who lives on the same street.
Williams said after hearing one gunshot, she ran outside, where she saw other shots being fired at the car.
“When they opened the door he was already dead," Williams told The Associated Press. “He was slumped over.” She said officers tried to perform chest compressions on him.
Mr. Brown had a rap sheet longer than any thread on this site. He was a known drug dealer in the area and had been under surveillance by police for the past year. They even had undercover officers buying from him.
Wonder how many people's lives have been saved by one more alleged bad guy being off the streets.
I have a family member that is addicted to the very types of drugs Mr. Brown had been selling. If it weren't for his family being aware of his addiction and being trained in what to do during his overdoses, he'd be a Mr. Brown causality several times over by now.
This had nothing to do about race, and everything to do with an alleged bad guy trying to stay free by running from his crimes. If he'd stopped and submitted to the search and seizure, Mr Brown would be out on bail by now.
Ignorance can be educated, crazy can be medicated, but you can't fix STUPID!

Why the rush to judgement if cam footage has not been released yet.
Fools itching for a fight ?
Let Justice run it's course.........................
Family saw the footage and they are claiming the police did not release all of it. I suspect the results were not good for the family's case, so now they are claiming editing of video by police. Hopefully, a judge will soon allow the release so all can see it.
It is sad that this person did not choose a different life for himself, but he didn't, he is dead, and that is good news for his future victims. Want to end the war on drugs? Zero mercy for dealers and treat the addicted with medical and psychological treatment.
Another Felon, another "victim" and his family will want millions of dollars.
I don't even give 2 chits anymore. Same story, different Person.
