If cops really did their jobs, they would only be seen to clean up the mess and take names.

Its really sad as we watch the death of our Republic. And it would be nice IF a "news" organization would give an hour of videos showing the daily shooting, stabbing, vehicular assault ect. that police officers endure every day/night in America. If criminals get the airtime by gosh those who "serve and protect" most assuredly should. Going to YouTube and put police shootouts in search and see what police go thru. All we see in these police involved shootings is part of the agenda to destroy our nation from within. Devide us divert us and in the end they want their form of order out of their designed chaos.

Now that qualified immunity is on its way out, its too easy to lose that good salary, accumulated assets, and one's freedom. An officer's entire life could be upended due to the political whims of a few loud mouthed individuals. No thinking person would want to be a police officer these days. We (including you) will pay the price for this nonsense: Very low quality police applicants and rapidly escalating crime rates. Once again, the Leftist nutjobs have found a way to accelerate this country's downward trajectory simply to placate a bunch of opportunistic wastes of oxygen.

That's not how effective policing works.

I though that as long as you obeyed the law, you had nothing to worry about? Or does that maxim only apply to those not in uniform?

Very sorry that you’re upset officers are finally being held to some kind of standard. Just because you’ve never run into a bad cop doesn’t mean they’re not out there.

Not in Florida. Here we are nuts across all socio-economic lines.

Floridians are quite consistant.

It's like asking who wants to be a troop now. No one does it because they want to serve their country or community, they do it for the paycheck and lack of options.

When I was in the Air Force, no one stayed out of some sense of service. They stayed because you get a $28K pension after 20 years.

The law has many, many nuances. Perhaps you've noticed that we have this giant thing called the judicial system, the purpose of which is to clarify the law when discrepancies arise? Police officers have to make judgement calls regarding these nuances very quickly - sometimes in a split second - under very stressful circumstances. They're human and will occasionally make mistakes. The current system of qualified immunity doesn't protect officers of egregious violations, but makes sure they're aren't held to super human standards for mistakes. If you think it's as black and white as either illegal or legal, you're incredibly naive and would make a terrible police officer...or judge...or just about any position of authority. It's not that simple and you know it. Once again, lefties/liberals are attempting to "fix" a none issue simply to placate low-information voters.

Cops are held to a much, much higher standard then the general public is held to on their jobs. Do you face possible jail time for under cooking the occasional Big Mac? Nobody is saying there aren't bad cops out there. Qualified immunity doesn't protect them. You don't even understand what qualified immunity is, yet you're all for getting rid of it. We're upset because people like you over simplify the job and have zero appreciation of the complexities involved.
