Yeah, but even countries without the populist leaders also had terrible infection levels at least at varying points, ex. Spain had a very liberal government (for a while, they recently got kicked out of power) and had one of the worst COVID epidemics, well before the one in the US came under Trump.

Bad leaders?
A system that rewards hospitals that report high rates of covid?

India ranks poorly when it comes to healthy countries. "Murica is one of the fattest, if not the fattest 1st world country. Dunno about Brazil

You do realize that Spain with extremely limited resources compared to the US still has a lower death rate, right?

Who does that? Not the US.

More information is coming out on the double-mutant strains from India that further highlight how anti-vaxxers spread misinformation as seen above. Despite his own link saying experts knew nothing about the strains in India Corascant felt compelled to make up things to put a false spin on it to declare them invincible to current vaccines. Scientists are finding that the vaccine effectiveness is reduced but still provide protection, just like with the South African strain. Nobody has found it makes vaccines worthless as Corascant falsely claimed.

"Despite this reduction, all vaccine blood samples and nearly 80% of blood samples from individuals that had been previously infected still maintained the ability to block this Indian variant," Suthar said. "We have no reason to believe the vaccine response to this strain will be a problem," added Dr. Eric Topol, a professor of molecular medicine at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. "This has already been assessed in Israel and other places and the mutations don't seem to be able to evade the vaccines. "In addition, studies have shown the vaccines are effective against the two main mutations this variant contains, "so it's reasonable to conclude that the vaccines are likely to be effective against the variant," said Chiu.

Only about 10% of India's population of 1.3 billion people has been vaccinated with at least one dose of vaccine and only 2.8% have been fully vaccinated. When people there who have one dose of vaccine get infected, "they're only having mild infections," said Gandhi.

A top American health official has said the Covid-19 vaccines approved by the United States like Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson have effectiveness against the B.1.617 variant. “The data is coming in, and it looks very encouraging that the US-approved vaccines, the Pfizer, the Moderna, the J&J, do have effectiveness against this variant called B.1.617,” said Dr Francis Collins, Director of National Institute of Science.

Together the data suggests the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will still work well against B.1.617, just as they do for the variant from South Africa, known as B.1.351. In both cases, the shots will likely offer high protection from death and severe illness, but they may lose some ability to stop mild or asymptomatic infections.

Continuing to shine a light on this disinformation campaign by Corascant.

New UK government research suggests two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine are needed to provide strong protection against symptomatic infection from the coronavirus variant first identified in India, according to two people briefed on the preliminary data. Two vaccine doses provided 81 per cent protection against the B.1.617.2 variant found in India, and 87 per cent against the B.1.1.7 strain first identified in Kent in south-east England, according to the Public Health England data that was presented to a meeting of the government’s New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (Nervtag).
