First of all, the article provides a good contrast between how Obama smartly handled the Ebola crisis with how Trump mishandled the COVID19 pandemic.

Second, we all know even if Trump is prosecuted, the Republicans will just prevent evidence and witnesses from being introduced in court; so he will get off regardless.

But it's an interesting question - Fox News is already being sued for lying about the virus. If Fox News is found guilty (doubtful, most likely settle out of court), that'd be very interesting. But again, he will probably get off because of the corrupt Republicans, but still.

COULD TRUMP BE CRIMINALLY LIABLE FOR HIS DEADLY MISHANDLING OF CORONAVIRUS?

Many U.S. deaths—now over 28,000—and much economic damage could have been avoided if Trump hadn't crippled U.S. biodefense capabilities. Obama officials said they presented incoming Trump officials with a pandemic simulation, but Trump's team ignored it, "convinced they knew more than the outgoing administration."

Trump also ignored multiple warnings that cutting pandemic defense would expose Americans to the "significant probability of a large and lethal modern-day pandemic," that that U.S. capacity wasn't "sufficient to fight many types of infectious disease outbreaks," and that unless he invested more in biodefense now, we'd pay much more in "human and economic costs" later.

For starters, Trump lied or tried to mislead when he said nobody saw a pandemic coming. But is that lie big enough to constitute a crime?

If the number of infected starts to drastically increase after we re open the handful of states, you can bet there will be lawsuits flying left and right, and Trump will be at the center, because it was him who aggressively tried to get everyone back to work.

Plus, come fall, if the virus doubles up and hits us harder then, and places are forced to shut down again, lawsuits will be numerous.

The Newsweek source...they hate Trump, so no headline surprise there.

Second, the headline should read:
Newsweek - COULD CHINA BE CRIMINALLY LIABLE FOR THEIR DEADLY MISHANDLING OF CORONAVIRUS?

How is it Trump's fault? Answer: it's not at all.

Some serious TDS going on strong here.
