So a kid who barely squeaked through high school and now has a job of pushing a few buttons and telling the customer to insert his debit or credit card should be able to support a family - and pay for his kids’ education, buy a car, purchase new clothes, and so forth? That would take a minimum of $60,000 or $70,000.

You think the minimum wage should be set so that a married 22-year-old couple, with high school diplomas and no job skills, should together pull in nearly $150,000 a year? So how much should small businesses pay people who went to college? $300,000 minimum?

If we did what the liberals like you are saying, almost every small business in the country would close. Then there would be no jobs at all, and everyone would be getting UBI at a basic subsistence rate. Yeah, equality!

And not a single mention of them acquiring any type of skill. As if all this is owed to you for just breathing.

A lot of the restaurants here are still restricted.

And you can start paying much more for everything. As far as I am concerned fast food workers are overpaid because they get my order wrong most of the time. If someone wants to make more all they have to do is work hard and learn as much as they can. People who are good workers or who have skills and apply those skills with a good attitude move up.

Too many people want handouts not to work hard to improve themselves.

Meaningless statement...or platitude, if you prefer.

No person living on their own should struggle to pay for food, water, housing, education, health care, transportation, clothing on a 40 hour work week. This isn't complicated. We are a very wealthy country. We can do better than we are today, and we can provide the bare minimums to our fellow Americans.

It's when you go back to full capacity and life starts to get back to normal crowds is when you'll see the shortage due to the enhanced UE benefits.

This is the reality of artificially set wages:

A Five Below has removed ALL cashiers
A Walmart is down to 7 checkout lines and only half are open at the busiest time.
Rite Aid stores that never had self checkout are installing them.

Wages set higher than market give higher prices in the short term and job elimination in the long term.

This is already happening in places that only reduced restrictions a modest amount.
