Yes, the runaway or rebellious slaves were always portrayed as ingrates.

Actually the reality is millions of people are forced to work for low wages.

The stimulus checks which also goosed the income of those choosing not to work are done.

All those things paid people NOT to work.

Time to watch how choosy they are picking jobs once we stop paying them not to work, and once eviction orders start being served.

In all likelihood, 99% of the affected did nothing to improve their skills or ability to get better jobs. Tick tock, the gravy train is ending soon.
Before we criticize these people too harshly we must remember that millions of schoolchildren needed to be cared for at home due to the school buildings being closed.

Why eliminate it? So that companies don't have to move to Bangladesh to pay their workers peanuts?

If a full-time employee is paid so low that society has to subsidize their pay with food stamps etc their employer should be penalized with the cost of those services.

from a "scientific standpoint", if the wage is above the minimum, then there's no reason to have a floor, a collar, or a ceiling.

Companies don't move to Bangladesh just because they'd have to pay $7.25 here.

Because they'd have to pay $10+ here - and likely $20.

WAIT -what's your education, work & economics background?

the good news is, a single person only has to make $12,760 to not be in poverty in the US. That's below minimum wage ($6.38) - so NOBODY makes that.

Even better news - you can earn $8.48/hr and still qualify for Medicaid. Yes, the rest of us will pay your medical care for you to work an $8.48/hr job.
