People who carry out mass shootings at schools in particular tend to be boys who are suicidal, depressed, and dad-deprived.

In his research for his most recent book, “The Boy Crisis,” Warren Farrell identified signs of boys being hurt, developing a list of 63 signs. He hopes the list, which he described as a “male depression-suicide inventory,” is used to question young people.

“Because if you have these experiences, these are red flags that the guidance counselors and psychologists in school should be paying attention to.”

Farrell stresses that not all boys with problems and without fathers become mass shooters!

As I have pointed out numerous times, the biggest discipline problems in every school I have worked in are males being raised by a never wed mother - regardless of race.

They don't have a strong, righteous male figure to help them navigate the path towards manhood, so we shouldn't be too surprised when some grow up to be confused and cowardly. This stuff happens for a reason, but we are too afraid to talk about those reasons, because such a conversation would naturally offend some people.

No matter what people believe, I am entitled to my own opinions. I think households with two parents (biological male and female) produce better results for most children. Some do just fine with one parent, or two parents of the same sex, but there are many challenges that come with this.

It all depends on what kind of Dad the Dad is and also what kind mum the mum is.

A drunk Dad who will beat the children and their mum won't do anything good to any child.

A reasonable couple will still show up together in school activities for their children after divorce.

It is hard to be a single parent that is why when we start family plan we do need to do a thorough consideration of everything. Or even earlier when you want marriage you should consider what your partner will mostly behave like if one day you separate.

Simple solution is stopping most of the population from breeding at birth. . . Lets face it, 80-95 percent of Parents in America should NOT be parents. Its not just mass shootings. its everything. And 9 times out of 10 anything wrong with a child or young adult does can be traced back to **** Parenting. Thats the bottom line. Crappy parents create crappy kids and the cycle perpetuates itself. (Theres been plenty of studies done to prove this) Sure you have your few that "overcome" that buts its few and far between. . So what if it kills off the population in the long run due to no procreation. Like George Carlin said, "Humans had great gifts, and we squandered it"

Yes, that’s the conservative “family values” narrative: mass shooters didn’t have proper fathers to beat them into submission at a young age. If only they had, they would have turned out to be good kids.

That's just silly. We would all be replaced by illegal immigrants. Do you think replacing Americans with poor people who can't afford children is somehow better?

Your assumption that conservatives instinctively beat their children is not based on reality. The reasons why some choose to beat their children likely has nothing at all to do with politics. Many parents hit their children because they are angry, destructive people that live crappy lives, and take out their anger on their children. Do you really believe liberals don't hit their children? We know they have no problem murdering them with abortion. Hitting them is not exactly a step up from that.

No, but to teach them to stop being a whiny victim that is owed something, YES!

Another point that book makes is that 90% of mass shooters have had serious suicidal thoughts. This speaks to mental health care issues. There's a lot of stigma against getting help for mental health issues, especially among males in this country. Making it affordable and acceptable to reach out for help with mental issues is something that we sorely need.

This next part is simply me thinking out loud, but I'd like to see the data comparing children raised by single mothers to single fathers (meaning, is this really an issue of lacking a father, or an issue of having a single parent?)
