There is a 2000+ year history of churches, theologians, laypeople and so forth all discussing Jesus Christ and His ministry and divinity.
Trump was actively involved in politics for roughly 6 years.
And the world population during Jesus’ human life is irrelevant to your original question.
Well his original question talks about the most discussed living person, so it's pretty relevant. Most of the discussion about Jesus happened after he died.
What was the world population during the time of Jesus? And again...no internet.
So you are saying most famous during his lifetime? OK. I still don't think it is Donald Trump, and I would still think Jesus Christ would beat him. Seeing Trump as the most famous person during his lifetime is a very insular view of the world from the perspective of someone most likely in the United States and interested enough in politics to be posting on this bpard on a Sunday afternoon. Marie Antoinette was likely more famous and talked about in her lifetime than Trump. Just an example, not suggesting she is the most famous during her lifetime.
There are a lot of people in the world who don't have internet, and among those who do they aren't all spending time talking about Trump.

The best form of advertisement to this day is word-of-mouth. When Jesus spoke, people traveled for miles on end just to listen to Him. What Christ had to say, scared the political powers so much so, they took Him out --- Trump is not only still here, but judging from the way he exaggerated the number of people who came to hear him talk, if you're looking for most popular that would be Christ --- second to Him, The Beetles.

If we had a way of counting the words dedicated to discussing any one person during their lifetime — Trump wins by a landslide.
TDS is a thing, and it causes some people to think and talk about Trump every single day for as long as they are inflicted with it. And TDS is rather contagious, but only for people who are susceptible to brainwashing, propaganda and mind control.
But then that makes him more than a person which would also disqualify him from this discussion.
He is both.
John 1:14: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
