He has no choice.

Big tech is an effective monopoly on the transmission of books and ideas.

Break up or regulate all effective monopolies. Note unlike many, I mean all effective monopolies including those in drugs, sports, internet access, hospitals....

I agree with this, I hate online shopping is taking over and hurting not only box stores, but boutiques, I still end up having to shop online. Nowadays at times there is no choice.

Yup!!!!! People hate big tech to rant about and use it every chance they get.

Part of that is necessity these days and part not.

I wonder if folks ranted about those automobiles back in the day.

I seldom buy American or shop anywhere but online. Brick and mortar are dead. That's life in the 21st century.

Monopolies make it impossible for him to do it another way. Why is this even a thread. Tear apart the monopolies and stop censorship now. People need to stand up now.

Depending on where you live the inventory in a brick and mortar is limited. It isn't just because of online shopping.

I began doing most of my Christmas shopping online back in the early 2000's. My kids were LEGO and video game kids. Much easier to buy online exactly what I wanted -- rather than go to the brick and mortar and find they are sold out.

I love a good local store for local produce/.products (live on the coast -- local shrimp is the beet as is the seafood)......I love a Mom and Pop that has a unique product for gifts etc. But when I need a doo hickey for the thing a ma *** and the local Lowe's and Home Depot are out of stock..you go online. That happens once or twice and then you stop going to the brick and mortar to see if they have it.

Unless you expect him to travel the country selling books out of the trunk of his car, he doesn’t really have a choice in the matter. Amazon is the largest bookseller in the world, with a market saturation that dwarfs all of the competition in the market combined.

You can dislike the practices of a corporation while still using them. There are millions of people who complain about Walmart’s practices yet still shop there. I personally detest AT&T for their customer “service”, their price gouging, and a couple other reasons. I still use them for internet, though, because my only other choice would be satellite internet or using my (non-AT&T) mobile provider. Since I depend on the internet for a portion of my income as well as household entertainment, I have no viable option but to use a company I don’t agree with for internet service.
