It was all supposed to be about flattening the curve.

Now it's about eradicating it via vaccination which will never happen IMO.
Eradication has a specific meaning in epidemiology: the virus no longer exists anywhere in the world. No one is trying to do that with SARS-CoV-2.

Elimination means the virus does not circulate in a specific geographic location.

The fly in the ointment is not knowing how long immunity from either infection or the vaccine will last.

No one knows how many cases is low enough. If too many people refuse the vaccine we will get nowhere close, though.

What I said in the snippet you quoted has nothing to do with politics. It is an epidemiological concept.

Well this should be an interesting experiment. We'll see how well it works. The key factor is how soon large, crowded venues will be allowed, and how well they do at resisting virus spread.

Your post is the only thing obviously politically motivated, and based on conjecture.

I think we're more interested in facts here.

And this fear came in part because every time you stepped out of your home, you saw people in masks. In the fearful, that without a doubt increased their anxiety.

It's the optic of seeing others wear masks that the gov wants. Without that optic no one would care. So the gov wants to continue that optic. Thus, the gov will never say everyone can stop wearing masks.

Also, if you can remove your masks if vaccinated for the coronavirus, what about the yearly flu? It's ok now to spread the flu around?

I never heard anybody say anything about eradicating...I understood it always to be about flattening the curve.....which we have struggled with -- look at those charts from 2020 and early 2021......we seem to be well on our way though.

Was there a new statement?

No. It was one new restriction at a time. Oh, this isn't so bad. We can do this one little thing. And the next. And the next.

We're supposed to study history to learn from it. Why haven't you?

People don’t seem to care about history. It’s all about believing in “the science” these days.

That's how you FEEL...I don't get that feeling.

And now we are just looking for ways to bicker it seems.

The flu, the virus will never be eradicated but we have figured out some basic ways to mitigate it.

Maybe the washing hands, allowing for more space during flu season will seep into our culture.
Maybe people will stay home when they don't feel well. We've all been to that family function, party, get together, work where someone says -- I feel like such crap -- think I'm fighting the flu. Then what the heck are they doing there -- lol.

Yep. They sure have. It went from keeping hospitals to becoming overwhelmed to trying to prevent any cases. It’s totally unrealistic.
