I was surprised, but you’re right! The Speaker does not have to be a member of Congress. The problem is that there are far too many RHINOs to make that happen, even with a majority. We’d really need to sweep.
And a disaster for the GOP. FL has DeSantis who looks to have some distinct possibilities for the GOP. Are they really going to screw that up to keep worshiping Trump?
It keeps him in the public eye, and allows his opinions to dominate, I like the idea.
Before he even took office, Trump entirely fulfilled his mission when he broke the Bush-Clinton duopoly in a single campaign, notably in February and in November 2016.
Now, the Clintons are probably out for good, but there is another Bush waiting in the wings in Texas (currently Land Commissioner).
By the time this fourth-generation Bush makes it to the federal level, Trump will have vanished and in any case he is already too old.
A poke in the eye at both so-called parties is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, it won't happen again for a long time.
