One of the studies, published in The Lancet Public Health, also reported a low rate of reinfection with B.1.1.7 in those who have recovered from previous COVID infections.

That seems to be what greywar said.

Thank you. I did read his post wrong and thought he mentioned there would be more deaths.
So I apologize to the poster!

Oregon and Washington, hot beds for democrats.

Quote:
Some of Oregon’s biggest cities — including Portland, Salem, Bend and Eugene — are in the counties that will be in the most dire category, effective Friday.
(^from the OP's link) Big cities are generally hotbeds for democrats.

Portland:
Quote:
The Political Climate in Portland, OR is Moderately liberal.

Multnomah County, OR is Moderately liberal. In Multnomah County, OR 73.3% of the people voted Democrat in the last presidential election, 17.0% voted for the Republican Party, and the remaining 9.7% voted Independent.

Multnomah county voted Democratic in the previous five Presidential elections.
In the last Presidential election, Multnomah county remained overwhelmingly Democratic, 73.3% to 17.0%

Hmm, it would appear that those on the left aren't anymore eager to get jabbed as [allegedly] those on the right are.

No problem. Ive made similar mistakes, so glass houses and all.

If it were not for our vaccinations I would have said more deaths, but vaccinating the elderly first has made a truly great difference in the death rate I suspect.

There is some reason to believe the variant might be more lethal due to higher concentrations in the infected, but we dont know yet. Its not a big difference by any huge amount though or we would have seen enough death already to see it reported I think.

Historical data helps too, we can see our big jump in infections starting a month ago, but no jump in deaths.

As for the lockdown? Its not much of one. LOL. Calling it that is vastly mislabeling it really. Restaurants might have to go back to outdoor dining, and the majority of them are well prepared for it already. The problem is that we have specific requirements for when counties change their level of "lockdown" based on new cases, but not deaths. So hopefully we will change that some as the risk is not the same as it was before the vaccine.

Then move to the Ruby Red State many Texans and liberals love to hate, which is Oklahoma. Liberals most certainly don't love all the Red States. It helps explain why Tesla went with its new truck factory to Austin, rather then Tulsa.

I will. I get Daily emails with the reported numbers. We had been down to 250 cases a day just a few weeks ago and now we are up to nearly 1,000 new cases a day (not the peak after the holidays (which was closer to 1,500).

Anecdotally, we had a slow roll out of vaccine. The people that were the testers were the same people that were to become the vaccinators in the very beginning before the staffing got ramped up. The blue states did not necessarily get their fair share of vaccines in the beginning. Obviously, there are multiple factors.

Oregon has the UK variant and the LA variant running rampant. A lot less people are dying (since a large percentage of the oldest population is vaccinated).

From Legacy Health today -- QUOTE

"The move to “extreme risk” happened even though more people are getting vaccinated. A few factors are causing this:

• There are not enough fully vaccinated people

• People are continuing with risky behavior, such as not wearing masks and not being physically distant in large crowds while in indoor spaces

Washington: Variants also increased

In Washington, variants of the COVID-19 virus have become common. By late April, 50%-60% of COVID cases were caused by the B.1.1.7 variant; 30%-35% of the state’s cases were caused by the other variants.

Health officials stress the vaccine works. But not enough people have been immunized to fully combat the virus. That is why officials in both Oregon and Washington encourage everyone 16 years and older to get vaccinated. Vaccinated people are less likely to die or experience extreme illness if they get the virus." END QUOTE

Inslee is KILLING Washington state. I have friends who have been long time residents counting down the days they leave there.
They were all about flattening the curve...but here they are over a year later. Business who have been in business forever have closed their doors. Mom and pop businesses are failing etc.
