Terrible. Though not making hate crimes worthy of bail hardly seems like a "leftist" stance... it looks like the original judge broke the law in imposing bail. I agree that he should have been held, but that's not how the law reads, unfortunately. Hopefully they change that.

Disgusting. If this lenience continues things are going to get a whole lot worse. Criminals will simply have no fear and considering the current social climate I can see hate crimes in particular increasing in number and intensity. What a powder keg the left is encouraging.

What I was saying is that seems more like a law you'd see in the South... not wanting to hold people accountable for committing hate crimes. Not a left-leaning position whatsoever.

But the no-bail IS definitely a left-leaning position. DeBlasio put it in. About a year ago, there were a spate of assaults against Jews, and one woman (yes, a woman) was arrested for assaulting a Jew, then released without bail, and then a day later found herself another Jew to assault.
