That’s actually never true. The country would summarily break down if people just stopped paying their debts to save money. Plus you live in a debtor “nation” (I scare quote nation because the US no longer fits that definition). No one can even bring up the fact that the debt of the country is at 130% of GDP because of the political whataboutism class.
