It's really sad that some people think every single problem in society is the fault of their political opponents.

Breaking news: Republicans have been both president and had control of congress as much as democrats in the past 20+ years.

No we don't. Our labor participation rate right now is the worst its been since 1975. And unemployment is still high in Ag, construction, mining, manufacturing, and transportation. We need to get Americans back to work before we import foreign workers to compete for jobs and depress wages.

Not only that. They want well trained and highly skilled professionals in every field. Naturally such people are hard to find. Most are already employed or self employed. I remember in the past companies like IBM investing a lot in new recruits. They had extensive training programs. Today companies expect candidates to be experienced and knowledgeable. There is zero willingness to invest in order to bring the new recruits to the level they require.

In reality we see open positions side by side with thousands of job seekers. That is an economic anomaly.

If unemployment is still high in these areas of work doesn't it mean americans don't want the jobs.

If factory jobs go unfilled then wages are too low. Stimulus and unemployment have nothing to do with it, not when unemployment only pays $16/hr. When you advertise a skilled labor job and there are few takers, that means competitors elsewhere are paying more. The free market applies to wages and employment too.

Between 1950 and 2018 labor productivity shot up by 253% but wages only went up by 116% -- corporations have been taking advantage of workers for decades now. The Trump tax cut was salt in the wound as corporations took that windfall and spent it on stock buybacks (great for the boardroom who are paid in stock options) but didn't share it with the employees for the most part.

This could mark the point where the productivity pay gap is so large that American workers are finally saying "take this job and shove it." CEO's of America, you've taken more than your fair share. Pay up.

No. It’s a mixed bag. Sometimes employers reject all job applicants. Sometimes employers don’t want to pay a livable wage (in Bangladesh a worker gets $10 per day. Why should I pay even $12 per hour)?

On the other side there are many bad, unreliable employees. People that don’t even show up at work everyday.

This. We can debate the merits of things like illegal immigration and abortion, but you're never going to convince me that Republicans actually want to do anything about them.

Rile up the base, get votes, do almost nothing, repeat every election.

Too much emphasis is put on getting a college education, which is one contributing factor to the devaluation of blue-collar labor.
Factory jobs usually don’t pay enough to live off of.
No matter how menial the task may seem, those workers spend long hours in an environment most modern people are unwilling to work in.
That alone is worth much more than we give credit for.

I think it is ultimately the fault of the individual for being exploited. But it is the left that finds the racists boogeyman around every turn and shames any minority for having independent thoughts, i.e., Ice Cube, Tim Scott, the Mexican racist cop that will never be White.

Oh yeah, and now, it's only minorities who work in manufacturing. Must be some racist democrats why factories can't find workers.
