Good article by Michael Gerson the other day:

Opinion: Elected Republicans are lying with open eyes. Their excuses are disgraceful.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...icans-big-lie/

"To be a loyal Republican, one must be either a sucker or a liar. And because this defining falsehood is so obviously and laughably false, we can safely assume that most Republican leaders who embrace it fall into the second category."

So I think that lot of the Trump supporters on this forum are suckers. They actually believe the election was stolen, despite lack of any evidence. They are to be pitied, not vilified.

Gerson's point is that elected leaders, like Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley, know that it is a lie. They perpetuate the lie in order to gain power, which is more despicable.

"A founding lie is intended to remove followers from the messy world of facts and evidence. It is designed to replace critical judgment with personal loyalty. It is supposed to encourage distrust of every source of social authority opposed to the leader’s shifting will."

Republicans have made professing to believe the lie into a loyalty test.

Democrats should sit this one out. They don't have a leg to stand on calling elections fraud and questioning the results. Russian hoax takes the cake.

Leo you look pathetic calling the right liars when Corn Pops in Chief declared the nation as a systematically racist country and that cops are out to kill black people and white supremacy is the #1 terror threat. Talk about B.S.

Democrats take a sit. No leg to stand on. After Obama, your side shouldn't question the right or anybody about loyalty.

I don't care what you say, JOE BIDEN DIDN'T GET 81 MILLION VOTES legally.

Donald Trump won TX, FL and OH handily and "LOST." First time in history.

Donald Trump got twelve million more votes than 2016 (Obama LOST 4 million), and "LOST."

BS. I don't care what you say or what you think about me. The Democrat governors machine gunned out ballots all over their states, changed voting laws without their legislatures, and massive media blackouts of actual, factual information happened. (Also, stories were flatly made up and amplified about Trump, such as the "bounty" story).

Nope, you guys put the country through hell for 4 years over "Russia" and partisan impeachments over Trump. You have no credibility on this issue.

Sorry.

And when there's a lack of evidence, the Trumpers create fake evidence, like the sham "audit" going on in Arizona. People in Arizona call it the "Fraudit." The sham audit is so biased they even hired someone who participated in the Jan. 6th insurrection. Unbelievable.

The GOP is the party of the BIG LIE. Trumpers: Biden won fair and square. Get over it.

Democrats have to repair the damage trump did. They cannot "sit this one out." Sitting on thumbs and blaming democrats for the republicans' incompetence is the GOP's MO.

Elected Republicans are lying with open eyes
Allow me to correct:
Elected Republicans and Dems are lying with open eyes; and have been doing so for generations.

... millions don't care what you say: Joe Biden absolutely did get 81 million LEGITIMATE votes, as certified by election officials in all 50 states. Joe Biden's 81,268,924 vote count is rock solid, an official number, set in stone.

More B.S. from the left. Corn Pops in chief will "repair" the damage when he is part of the damage in the first place. Democrats do believe in their own B.S.
